STATEMENT OF FAITH
The Doctrine of The Godhead
(Theology Proper)
We believe in one Triune
God, eternally existing in three persons -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
-- co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and
glory, having the same attributes and perfection, but each having His own
distinct ministry in relation to His creation and people. (Deut. 6:4; II
Cor. 13:14; I Pet. 1:2)
The Doctrine of the Scriptures (Bibliology)
We believe the Holy
Scriptures, both the Old and New Testament, to be the verbally inspired
Word of God, the final authority in all faith and life, inerrant in the
original writings, infallible and God-breathed. We believe this divine
inspiration extends to all parts of the writings - historical, poetical,
doctrinal and prophetic - as they appeared in the original manuscripts. We
believe the Scriptures are for practical instruction in our lives. (Deut.
8:3; Matt. 5:18; Rom. 15:4; II Tim. 3:16,17; Heb. 4:12; II Pet. 1:20,21)
The Doctrine of the Lord Jesus
Christ (Christology)
We believe that the Lord Jesus
Christ, the eternal son of God, became man without ceasing to be God.
Conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, being perfect Deity
and humanity, He came in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful
men.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ
accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a
representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice; and that by His
literal physical resurrection made sure our justification, conquering
death, hell and the grave. We believe that His death is sufficient for the
sins of the whole world; yet is effective only for those that believe.
(Rom. 3:24,25; Eph. 1:7; I Pet. 1:3-5 & 2:24; I Jn. 2:2)
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ
ascended to heaven, is now exalted at the right hand of God, where as our
High Priest, He fulfills the ministry of representative, intercessor, and
advocate, and that His imminent return will end the church age. (Acts
1:9-11; Rom. 8:34; Heb. 7:25 & 9:24; I Jn. 2:1)
The Doctrine of the Holy Spirit (Pneumatology)
We believe the person of
the Holy Spirit possesses all the attributes of Deity. His ministry on
earth is to convict men of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and
that He is the supernatural agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers
into the body of Christ, indwelling and sealing them unto the day of
redemption. (Jn. 16:7-11; Rom. 8:9; I Cor. 12:12-14; Eph. 1:13,14 &
4:30)
We believe the Holy Spirit is the Divine
Teacher who guides all believers in truth and empowers them for fruitful
service, and that it is both a privilege and duty of all believers to be
filled with (i.e. controlled by) the Spirit. (Jn. 16:13; Eph. 5:18; I Jn.
2:20 & 2:27)
We believe the Holy Spirit is one person
of the triune Godhead and as such He is God. He is a person; He possesses
the elements of personality, intellect, emotion and will. (Acts 5:3-4; I
Cor. 2:10, 12:11; Eph. 4:30)
The Doctrine of Man
(Anthropology)
We believe that man was
created by God in His own image, that he was created from the dust of the
ground by a special supernatural act of God and not by any evolutionary
process. (Gen. 1:26-28, 2:7)
We believe the Scriptural record of the
fall of man; through Adam's disobedience, sin and death were brought upon
the whole human race; that through the fall the entire human race became
alienated from God; and that man is totally depraved and, in and of
himself, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition. (Rom. 1:20, 28, 32,
3:23, 5:12; Gal. 3:22; Eph. 2:1-3)
The Doctrine of Angels
(Angelology)
We believe that angels do
exist. We believe angels are created spiritual beings. They were created
before the foundation of the world and in their original state were
sinless. However, some followed Satan in his rebellion and thus are
condemned in this ungodly state of being along with him. (Job 38:6-7; Col.
1:16; Jude 6)
The Doctrine of Satan and Demons
(Demonology)
Satan is a personal being,
a fallen angel, and the author of sin; he was the influence in the fall of
men; and he is the open and declared enemy of God and Christians. He will
finally be bound and cast into the Lake of Fire to be tormented forever.
The demons, which are the angels that followed Satan in his rebellion
against God, will suffer the same judgment. (Gen. 3:15; Job 1:6-7; Isa.
14:12-17; Matt. 4:2-11, 17:18 & 25:41; Mark 9:25; Rev. 20:10)
The Doctrine of Salvation (Soteriology)
We believe salvation is
the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in
the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the
forgiveness of our sins. (Jn. 1:12; Eph. 1:7, 2:8-9; I Pet. 1:18,19)
We believe all the redeemed, once saved,
are kept by God's power through faith and are thus secure in Christ
forever. (I Pet. 1:5; Jn. 6:37-40 & 10:27-30; Rom. 8:1; & 38-39; I
Cor. 1:4-8)
We believe it is the privilege of
believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the
testimony of God's Word; which clearly forbids the use of Christian
liberties as an occasion to the flesh. (Rom. 13:13; Gal. 5:13; Titus
2:11-15)
We believe man is lost, he is totally
DEPRAVED and SEPARATED from God. He is dead in his SINS and TRESPASSES and
is without the desire or the ability to save himself. Therefore he is in
need of a Savior. (Eph. 2:1; Rom. 3:10; Jn. 6:44)
The Doctrine of Last Days
(Eschatology)
Blessed Hope
According to the Word of God the next great event in the fulfillment of
prophecy will be the coming of the Lord in the air to receive to Himself
into heaven both His own who are alive and remain and also all who have
fallen asleep in Jesus. This is the blessed hope (THE RAPTURE) set before
us in Scripture, and for this we should be constantly looking. The rapture
of the church will be pretribulational and premillennial. At the end of
the seven year tribulation Christ will return to earth with the Saints and
establish His Kingdom for a period of one thousand years. (Zech. 14:4-11;
Jn. 14:1-3; I Cor. 15:51-54; Phil. 3:20; I Thes. 4:13-18; Tit. 2:11-14)
The Doctrine of The Church
(Ecclesiology)
The church which began at
Pentecost (Acts 2), is the body and espoused bride of Christ and is a
spiritual organism made up of all born again persons of this church age.
(I Cor. 12:12-14; II Cor. 11:2; Eph. 1:22,23 & 5:25-27)
The establishment and continuance of the
local Church is clearly taught in the New Testament and members of the
universal Church should be organized in local Churches. The local Church
should be indigenous, self-supporting self-governing and self-propagating,
each supreme in its own affairs, but cooperating in fellowship and work
with those of like precious faith. (Matt. 18:15-20; Acts 14:27, 20:17,
20:28-32; I Tim. 3:15)
The Church is a living organism consisting
of ALL INDIVIDUALS who have received Jesus Christ by faith and as such are
born again, beginning at Pentecost and ceasing with the rapture.
